「你幸福吗?」:我们那仅仅40%的可支配幸福感

3/20 (today) is the UN International Day of Happiness.
The 66th session of the UN General Assembly in 2012 designated 20th of March to be the “International Day of Happiness.”
Why do we need this day to be set up to emphasize the theme of happiness?
According to the resolution, the pursuit of happiness is a rudimentary goal of the human beings around the globe in their daily lives.
“A smile makes you ten years younger,” people say.
This is a reasoned statement. Horizontal analyzes have revealed that the sense of happiness has positive impact on life expectancies. Though there are many different factors that’ll affect lifespan, a positive outlook on life and the sense of happiness are often related closely with longevity.
But happiness is a fairly abstract word…..
Happiness can be defined as an individual’s level of satisfaction of their personal lives (including familial life, intimate relationships, work, and studies) combined with their everyday mental states. The concept of happiness is a discrete one, and it depends on the cultural contexts and different considerations of different individuals.
What is included in the concept of happiness?
Aristotle categorized happiness (eudaimonia) as materialistic enjoyment and mental happiness. In the field of contemporary psychology, Dr. Martin Seligman believes that the nature of individuals and their levels of achievement are the factors to sustain happiness in their lives.
Factors that determine the sense of happiness could be quantified, as shown below:

With that being said, we are able to actually control 40% of our own sense of happiness!
Indeed! How, then, are we able to gather the sense of happiness?

The manual to happiness

Give yourself some hoping when you hop out of your bed every morning. For instance, you could expect for the update of your favorite reality show or a grand dinner at night.

Take ten minutes every day to attempt to feel everything that surrounds you without the company of your phone.

Help others out: You could help your fellow students by explaining to them the rationale behind tricky questions or by keeping the door open for passersby. All of these good deeds can help to achieve a sense of purpose.

Try to create new things for yourself. These “new things” could include either a painting or interesting objects that are as simple as a paper crane.
